We would like your comments…..

Posted in Uncategorized on June 27th, 2010

In year 6 our topic question is To whom does this country belong? At the beginning of the topic a lot of us said that it belonged to the Queen. We have studied what she does and this week we are researching the role of Prime Minister in our Brian Building books.

We would like to know what you think. Who owns this country and why?

Lies for eyes…..

Posted in Uncategorized on May 11th, 2010

In 6C we have been investigating some optical illusions, tricks that you can play on your eyes. We have seen old women with young faces, a tree which has lots of people hidden in it, a cliff which is a horse and floating sausages in between our fingers. It is all very stange and will help us to answer the question Do my eyes deceive me?

Signs

Posted in Uncategorized on May 5th, 2010

Have you spotted the signs near Mr. Bradley’s room? We made them as a DT project. We hope they make it easy for visitors to find their way around school. We have also made door numbers for all the rooms around school so wait for yours to be screwed onto the door. Even though we all know our way around, we are a huge school. We just hope there are useful signs when we get to High School!

A new topic for the New Year

How many children would have survived past their eleventh birthday five hundred years ago?

This term we will be looking at the history of medicine. We will be learning more about microorganisms, both good and bad. We will also be exploring the history of vaccinations and taking a look at the work of the famous scientist Edward Jenner. Watch this space for more pictures of our adventure…

We are continuing to work with students from Manchester Grammar who are testing us onour number facts and lots of us have achieved the gold award.

We are looking forward to a visit from the Islamic Society of Britain who will be giving us a variety of activites to do in a workshop.
